Playing card sleeves?
Playing card sleeves?
i finally received my crowdfunded copy of Earthborne Rangers, which due to its environmentally friendly goal, made all their cards without the plastic core cards usually have in order to spare the environment. they're all floppy and fragile, so they definitely need sleeves. only... there's around 1300 cards.
buying cheap card sleeves from china would run me around €16 plus import duty, but all the ones i can find in local stores are like €5 for 100... that's a lot of money. and i don't even know where those are produced.
so, any recommendations on where to get sleeves? preferably with some rigidity if that's a thing that exists? i think the cards are like 88x63mm.
Edit:
Turns out Arcane Tinmen, from Denmark, make some of their sleeves in-house! so Dragonshield sleeves are indeed european, except the really cheap ones.
Check out Arcane Tinmen's sleeves. They also produce Dragonshield sleeves for standard size playing cards and card games, think Flesh and Blood and Magic the Gathering, but they also have an assortment of sizes for boardgames and non-standard size card games that would likely run you cheaper than Dragonshield.. Afaik, they're from the Netherlands, can't comment on where the sleeves are produced, though, possibly China too.
Another option would be Katana sleeves by Ultimate Guard. They're a little cheaper than Dragonshield, have nice quality and shuffle feel (from what I've heard), and Ultimate Guard is from Germany. Again, can't comment on where they are produced, but I imagine most sleeves are probably made in China.
that's a second recommendation for dragonshield :) seems like that's the way to go then. i think i can get by cheaper by not sleeving every card, with 1300 of them most are not regularly used.
an update: i checked the packages of dragonshield i bought and they do say "made in denmark" on them!
That's awesome - wouldn't have expected that! How many did you end up getting? And how expensive was it?
