The War Is Coming For Women Too: Abortion Increasingly Restricted In Russia

On numerous occasions in post-Soviet Russia, conservative politicians and the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) have called for anti-abortion measures and the return of traditional gender roles. However, medical experts have defended accessible abortions, and no health minister has previously argued that women should prioritize childbirth over education in order to raise the birthrate.

When they say traditional gender roles, they mean to enslave women. Fuck them conservatives.
- Speaking of slavery, conscription of men to fight wars is another one of their "traditional gender roles". If fact it seems to be the reason why they are restricting abortions.

- Traditional gender roles guarantee a better natality. ( see amish, ultra ortodox jews, muslims ) , so progressive policies have no future in the long run due to demography issues. It is not an ideological analysis, but a tecnical one.
  
  The idea that having lots of kids is a good thing is definitely ideological. You might not have noticed but we have a few billion too many people on this planet, not too few.

  I think the situation right now is more of "if Russia is to exist in 15 years, we'll need more children now".
  He's probably adamant to sacrificing every last Russian man before he stops.
  
  As only Putin, or to be more exact, only the russian leadership is able to stop this war, they might plan for it lasting 15+ years.
  Furthermore, Ukraine is, according to the new Chief of Staff of ghe Russian army, only the stepping stone for the Baltics and Poland, so they have to plan for the next war and the war after that.

- Part of me believes it's not necessarily just a conservative, or religious thing. I think part of it may be more capitalistic. More people = more taxes/money generated.
  
  No, it's really just conservative old men pushing their "values" onto everyone. They're not actually values because it's not like they honestly believe in them or have any good reasoning to oppose the pro-choice arguments, but rather just outdated views they grew up with and refuse to further grow out of.
  The current Russian govenermnt, led by Putin, is not about planning or long-term goals of any kind - all of them, on every level, both federal and regional, only care about their own wellbeing, not the country, its budgets, or anything that a government is supposed to care about.
  Trust me, I've been living here for decades.

A while back, I looked at graphs for a number of countries showing TFR and compared against dates of legalization of abortion. Didn't see much (though could be that ilicit abortions or people going to another place to get an abortion limit this).
I did see visible drops for at least some countries where oral contraception became available in that country.
Didn't do a real statistical analysis, though.
