  • After moving to Blanchardstown in 2014, I rode my bicycle once to the next supermarket. Almost got run over by a bus and a lorry. Never again. o_O

    • I guess, as an experienced cyclist, you take it for granted, that every car driver wants to kill you and adapt your behaviour accordingly. I know not all want to do that, but if I didn't assume that they all do, I'd be dead a hundred times over.

  • It’s a problem in Galway too. It only needs to be a minority of drivers to cause a problem so it needs to be taken seriously.

    The two main problems are drivers charging through when there isn’t enough room, shoving the cyclist off the road and into something dangerous.

    The other is drivers actually swerving into cyclists intentionally. I had my teenager with me one of those times too. We were in normal clothes and on mountain bikes, so it was obvious we were family and not serious cyclists.
