Were the tiles stapled to the ceiling? Is that a thing?
Tiles like this:
Have a tongue and groove system, you staple and glue half, then slide the next one in and repeat.
We have these in our basement, and they're ok but a pain to fix if one in the middle gets loose.
Wow. I'd definitely rather just have a drop ceiling that's easier to maintain and I can run network cables through.
