His work is a little dated now, but a lot of scholarship on gay history was inspired by him.
adding this litterature next to Martin Luther King for my re-take on christianity as something good.
My other two favorite examples of “Christianity inspiring someone to be a better person” are Dietrich Bonhoeffer (stood up to the Nazis, also was very likely gay) and the living Fred Clark (blogger, idk there’s something profound about his Friday the 13th story and his writings on Huckleberry Finn)
