The article headline seems to be inaccurate though: What actually seems to be the case is that the methane emissions from abandoned infrastructure are larger than the methane emissions of any country other than CN, US, RU. (So it does not seem to be true that, say, the overall greenhouse gas effect stemming from abandoned infrastructure is larger than the overall GHG effect from all countries except these three.)
