Get all that out of games completely. Kids used to learn how make their own skins and maps if they wanted them.
Kids used to make their own sprites and scrolling routines and poke inventory values.
Well, bigger kids.
we did that kind of stuff in the elementary school computer lab. we also shimmed the outside facing door to use the computers on the weekends after opening the motion detector and stuffing paper towel in it during recess while some of the kids involved made a scene of spinning on the tire swing and barfing to pull the aide away from being able to see the door area so we could sneak in to do it.
No we didn't. At most, a handful of games allowed map making like starcraft and command and conquer, and grand theft auto. Making your own skins was never a thing. You'd create, at best, a custom badge or avatar. Skins were always unlocks from finding easter eggs or achievements.
I guess my life never existed.
