How can I get something crispy in it? I like the feeling of crunching on something. Makes me feel very strong.
Granola or chopped nuts on top after making the oatmeal? My wife does that with her maple and brown sugar oatmeal sometimes. Pistachios are really good on oatmeal IMO.
Depends on how quickly you eat and/or the amount of frozen blueberries. Or be naughty and put chocolate chips jn
By this logic I would then have to eat oatmeal
I have yet to find a replacement for the dried peach-flavoured apple bits (they are not actual pieces of peach) that you get in peaches and cream flavoured oatmeal.
I have used milk powder to add creaminess and that works great, but I can't seem to find a suitable stand-in for the fruit. It's literally the only flavour I like but I'm worried frozen peaches wouldn't provide the same texture and the chunks would be too big.
Can you cut apples that small?
I know there are dehydrators that can do the job, but an oven set on low might help too. (Unless the pieces are supposed to be freeze-dried.)
I wonder if you can use some peach flavor or peach syrup to sweeten the cooked oatmeal.
Or even take the apple, soak it in peach juice, then dehydrate.
Interesting thing to think about, but when it comes to things like this I just tend to buy whatever it is.
I have a Bulk Barn nearby (Canadian bulk ingredients retailer) and they have dehydrated apple pieces that are roughly the size I want.
I'm thinking of soaking them in peach flavouring, letting it air dry for a couple of days, and seeing what happens.
Dno but you could freeze your own ice cube trays of peach pureee in the summer and keep some around. Should easily dethaw in oatmeal if you froth it before freezing.
Thanks, but I don't really want puree, I want like little discrete bits of fruit. I'll have to see if maybe I can soak some dried apple bits in peach flavouring or something. It's just annoying. :B
I've been doing the same thing with larger containers of plain Greek yogurt. Some frozen fruit mixed in. No added sugar just as good way cheaper.
Greek yogurt is way cheaper than rolled oats? Fuck what year it is, what timeline am I in?!
Sorry, way cheaper than those individual cups with fruit on the bottom.
