I'm curious what Pinterest is used for in the first place!
It's useful for home design ideas. I have board for different parts of the house. Makes it easier to communicate ideas with my partner so we are aligned
Sounds like any "visual bookmarking" tool would work for that. You could check out https://www.pearltrees.com/ for example (France).

Always wondered this too! It's more of annoyance really cause it always shows up in image searches but then you can't download the full size image without getting an account, I've actually been looking for ways to block that page in my search results.
It used to be used as a place to post and find craft ideas, nowadays it's just an AI cesspit.
