In Taiwan, at a hot pot place called Haideilao, if you eat solo, they put a oversize stuffed mascot across from you so you're not eating alone.

That's a thing on mainland China too. Apparently some of them think eating alone with a big stuffed animal in the middle of a restaurant is a thing of nightmares too.
