Aotearoa Weekly Kōrero 24/1/2025
Welcome to this week’s casual kōrero thread!
This post will be pinned in this community so you can always find it, and will stay for about a week until replaced by the next one.
It’s for talking about anything that might not justify a full post. For example:
- Something interesting that happened to you
- Something humourous that happened to you
- Something frustrating that happened to you
- A quick question
- A request for recommendations
- Pictures of your pet
- A picture of a cloud that kind of looks like an elephant
- Anything else, there are no rules (except the rule)
So how’s it going?
I've always had pretty great eyesight, but have been having regular headaches and neausea midway through the afternoon when working on the computer.
I thought I'd get my eyes tested, and was told I nead some reading glasses (albeit very weak). Can't believe I've gotta wear glasses now :(
Oh no! I've always known I'd need glasses, just from a glance around the extended family, but outside of driving I have just not worn glasses even though I should. Though I do tend to wear prescription sunglasses.
I'm short sighted so up close isn't normally a problem. I used to struggle with reading presentations in meetings but now I work from home and so the screen is always a perfect viewing distance.
I had changed the default zoom on everything from 100% down to 80% so that I could squeeze more onto my screen for work, and thought that was the reason for some of the issues, and so when I really started noticing it, I went the full other way and went to 120% zoom lol.
Still found myself squinting and things being a little blurry (though I couldn't really say with any confidence if it was actually blurry or if Ai was getting in my own head lol - though that was confirmed today when I went for the eye exam)
