Steam Desktop Update Is Now Live with Some Major Changes to the Game Distribution Platform

Not so sure about the UI overhaul, but I do like the notes feature. I can see it being a very handy way for me to remember what I'm doing, especially if it syncs my notes between my desktop and my Steam Deck.
- Consistency from Steam Deck to PC makes a lot of sense and means features can come to everywhere at once.
- Does it actually sync like that??
  
  I just tested it and it turns out notes do sync.
- Given how everything else syncs fairly well I can't imagine it wouldn't Very useful feature to be sure
Desktop launcher finally looks modern. I'm liking it. Haven't had a chance to try out the notes feature. But, I'm guessing it remembers for each game?
- Yeah I tested it and it looks like it's game specific.
I absolutely love the new UI. It’s so responsive and modern, and for the most part, consistent.
- I've been on the Beta for awhile and it's so much better than what Steam used to be.
I still miss steam skins, but these changes look a lot better than before.
This version is constantly freezing up for me. I click two buttons only for it to freeze for 10 seconds.
- Maybe time for an integrity check or reinstall. Big updates like this can fudge things up
This looks great. For sure a shock when I first saw it but I think it’s just enough of a change to make it feel fresh. Then the features seem dope. I usually don’t use the overlay but I might now.
I wonder if we’ll get something like this on the deck eventually edit: oh hell yea it is on the deck
- Yep, that was a big bullet point, the groundwork to share code between every Steam flavor.
I didn't have any strong feeling about Steam but I do have to say the desktop performance is snappier.
That's great, I'd like to switch off beta as the in-game overlay has been crashing frequently.
