Red states strike deals to show controversial conservative videos in schools | Educational material from PragerU is now offered to public schools in six states
Critics say PragerU lessons distort history and facts to serve a conservative worldview. Some scientists have said PragerU videos lack context and downplay climate change as climate alarmism, while the Council on American-Islamic Relations alleges some videos are anti-Muslim. Other complaints center on the nonprofit’s portrayal of slavery.
I had a right leaning family member suggest PragerU content for my kid. I said "the only way this will happen is if Jesus Christ himself comes down from heaven and logs me in". I no longer get suggestions on content, bummer.
That's not right "leaning". That's diving headfirst. I miss when conservatives were basically Ron from Parks and Rec instead of this shitfuckery. Makes them seem almost good guys.
You know what, you're 100% correct. I pulled up on the same person listening to something that said "if they call you racist for saying it they're not well educated enough" . So I'm full supportive of that not being leaning.
When the fuck were conservatives like Ron? Ron was never a quasi-racist, fear mongering, rich asshole, who catered to hate groups, and facist Christian nationalist while pretending to be morally superior.
The closest the Republican party was to Ron was before the great switch.
He's basically what right-libertatians always pretend to be but never are: a smart and confident self-sufficient guy who just wants to be allowed to live the life of his choosing without bothering anyone.
You see, Parks and Rec is a fictional show where it's possible to be conservative without being abusive and completely heartless towards those that have to suffer for your childish notions of "absolute freedom, society be damned" 😉
Self centered, no humility (Ron trying to fuck Tom's wife comes to mind)
Hypocrite (Talks a big game about honesty but he gets a full salary for being the laziest slacker in the whole office, basically a government handout.)
Arrogant. Not listening to nurse's advice, always believing everyone else is intellectually lesser than him. You can earn his trust after many years but the starting point is not a neutral position. It's a position of apathy or even sometimes disgust. I remember him trying to take all vegan bacon strips out of circulation instead of going about his day and letting others enjoy whatever as long as he isn't harassed.
But all in all he's not so bad. As long had you ignore him he'll ignore you as well so you can both go about your lives most of the time.
Good points all. I admit that I've become a bit hazy on some of what happened on the show in the intervening years since my last rewatch, so thanks for completing the picture for me 😁
