Regulations approved by the European Council now mandate that companies, including Apple, must ensure that batteries in the iPhone and other products are replaceable by users.

I understand how good this is for some people, but i personally don't miss the days where you dropped your phone and the battery flew across the room.
User replaceable does not mean you have that. It's not intended as an every day replacement only when the battery degrades. They can use screws and have the battery easily accessible that way. It just means you don't need a hot plate and disassemble the entire thing just to change a battery.
