I don't doubt the flavours, but it's always seemed like a dry meal and hard to eat.

Could you shred the fried chicken and mix it with the batter before making the waffles? Probably lose most of the crisp then..

You would be right, but that's where the syrup comes into play.

The syrup goes on everything.
As long as you have a good syrup that isn't very thick, that balances your dry bit. I tried it for the first time at a wedding about 5 months ago. Was not a bad experience at all, but I also do not like fried chicken. I'll likely never order it again, but I could taste the appeal.
