Just wondering, since I feel like it's a good conversation starter and could be helpful in bringing other sissies to the site.
For my part, I'm growing increasingly concerned with the direction Reddit is going in. The recent API changes are just part of an ongoing trend. I feel it's extremely important that we start looking into independent alternatives like Lemmy that can act as a shelter for NSFW communities.
I'm a big open source person, and even reddit is closed source, I thought it was still nice that FOSS clients like Infinity existed. When reddit made the announcement about API changes and started looking into alternates. I dismissed Lemmy at first because of its tiny user base and lack of NSFW content, but that all changed once the blackout started. After I saw how many people were moving to Lemmy, and that this instance existed, I was fully prepared to switch.
Before I mostly used reddit for tech support, finding through reviews of products, keeping up to date on news, asking and answering questions, and porn. I still plan on using reddit for those first two things, because the sheer amount of content on reddit makes it perfect for those. As for the rest, I'm moving to Lemmy, and planning to contribute more content than I ever did on reddit!
