Looking for recommendations for a cheap/reliable grocery peddler
I'm a relatively new mtber and I live about 1.5 miles from my closest grocery store. I'm looking for a cheap option to take my ass up to the store to grab some groceries as I don't want to take my mtb because i don't want to get it stolen and it's just not an efficient ride.
I don't need anything with storage, as I usually just buy enough to put in my backpack. I'm just looking for something reliable and that gets a decent glide per stroke.
Anyone have any suggestions?

from craigslist, $100 in U.S. slow, unwieldy, unbalanced. 8 gears. High speed is a stroll of leisure, low speed will climb a cliff.
edit: also the brakes are horrendous. I try to avoid going downhill. it's basically like an old ass truck.
