That's an unfortunate name for a company.
Not if you're older than 15, do you chuckle every time you hear pedestrian, pedal, or biped? Ped/pod is simply the Latin root for many words while paed is Greek, as in the term you're insinuating
Round where I'm from, "pede" is a derogatory term for gay people.
