At this point I'm convinced that Bethesda is just memeing on itself, lol.
Like, during the showcase Todd even said "See that moon? You can go there!", like this kind of statement didn't get memed to death, like 10 years ago :D
I think some of the magic is taken away when you think about how ground to space isn't seamless. I wasn't really expecting it to be, but back in the day when they pointed to a mountaintop in Skyrim and said the same thing, it was cool to think about actually walking straight to it rather than having to go through a series of cutscenes to get there.
Yeah, I definitely think that was deliberate. I like how self-aware Bethesda are when it comes to stuff like this.
