The Trump administration has put on hold $6.8 billion in federal funds for K-12 schools, according to an Education Department notice obtained by States Newsroom. [...] The agency informed states on Monday that it would be withholding funding for several programs, including before- and after-school programs, migrant education and English-language learning, among other initiatives.
Time for states to freeze payments to the Trump administration. He'll only grift them into his own pockets anyway. They can just fund their education programs directly.
Underpay one year, get on a super cheap repayment plan (say, $100/mo).
Then keep underpaying and they just tack it on to the balance but your payment stays the same.
My friend has been doing it for 8+ years now and has racked up six figures+. I've only been doing it for 3ish.
I don't actually advise this as I'm not a lawyer or an accountant and it could go very badly.
If garnishment does happen, one possible advantage is that most of my jobs are 1099 contract nowadays so maybe I could skirt that? I honestly don't know. I don't care right now, in roughly a year I plan to leave the US and never return.
