Bruh what? They're citing lack of staff? They haven't even asked for volunteers! I would be happy to help!
You don't necessarily want to just ask for volunteers as that's a great way to summon exactly the kind of people you don't want to put in charge of online communities. The best way is usually to notice people who are already part of the community and consistently make positive contributions, then ask for their help. If none of those people want to, though, you're stuck.

I passed the vibe check and now I'm exactly as crap a mod as I said I'd be.
Better many lazy mods with proper vibes than one eager mod with a chip on their shoulder.
I wouldn't mind going through reports etc. either, I can take off some load, but don't make it a responsibility.
Obviously you would vet each person, not just blindly give admin privileges.

Yeah, I got close to volunteering, too, but honestly, my plate is too full doing more important stuff in the real world atm.
So it's everyone else's. That's why we're at the point we're at. Sucks, but my plate is too full too.
