conman gets conned by fellow conman
Conman pretends to be conned by partner when partner isn’t good enough conman.
Trump feels like a weird paradox of brilliant conman and incompitent conman to me. On one hand he did con about a hundred million people which I doubt I could do (even without pesky things like these ethics I have) so he's clearly a great conman. On the other hand I don't understand how anyone could be conned by him because he's so blatantly bat at being a conman.
because he co-opted a larger and much longer con built by way smarter conmen, and because the con is telling people what they already prefer to believe
