I wonder why would someone raise the price of product no one buys
- I pay for YouTube music (formerly google play music). It includes this lol.
- My wife and I have unlimited data plans, and we listen to all our music on YouTube. Without a sub, you can't turn the screen off. Ads are also not an issue on mobile/the TV when you have a sub.
  
  have you thought of trying YouTube through Firefox with add-ons or maybe Revanced (if you're in Android)? I'm sure that this will solve the screen off issue without the need for a subscription
