We're just getting started with our Spring 2016 season, and you can read the whole preview here, but for now, let's discuss some of the issues we're dealing with.
We're all aware that our schedule is short – it's already been 11 weeks since we last played an NCAA tournament game and only seven games since we last had a winning record. So what's going on?
We're not quite finished yet. We have three remaining games, but I would like to mention that the NCAA Tournament is an event we are planning for the remainder of the season, so it's important that we take advantage of those opportunities in an efficient way.
The biggest issue facing us this year is consistency and getting results. We have not won three consecutive games since February 15 and we are struggling to get points in all but two games. The last two have come against schools with very similar strength of schedule.
We're also dealing with a short recruiting class that includes four players currently ranked in the top 15 in the country, which has led to a loss of some of our top players. So in addition to getting the young guys playing well, we also want to put the best possible product on the court, and this is a big part of what we're trying to accomplish.
In addition to the roster issues that are impacting our team, I have a few other things to share with you as well. First, we're not finished yet. We have a lot of things that we need to do.
As we've already said, this is not just a one-off. We are continuing to work to improve. We will continue to improve on a weekly basis.
I don't want to say too much at this time, but I think you've been warned. I will say that we're doing things the right way and improving. We have to continue
