different strokes for different folks, my hand has been forced by an allergy to cats, and frankly, while I'm sure they're very sweet, I do not want to be the single, gay man with an animate ballsack for a cat (Yeah I know there are other hypoallergenic options but they were expensive last I checked and I'm poor -- and, so were sphinxes, but I might be misremembering that part). I still pet every cat I get the chance to, regardless of how miserable it makes me because of said allergy, but oh man I could not exist in a house that had them.
I also appreciate dogs inability to lie, more, too; it has been my experience that a cat can plot. Dogs have little capacity for thought-out planning, good or bad, and their tail usually gives it away; but a cat gets ideas and a cat that is plotting to shit in your shoes later, and a cat that is more or less indifferent to your existence, or a cat that merely doesn't want to engage with visitors, all look incredibly similar. Much like people, they can be duplicitous and incredibly good at it if they choose to be.
Now, you might appreciate that emotional complexity (and I admit, it does make dogs sound basic by comparison), but I do not. If a dog doesn't like you, you will know almost immediately, almost 100% of the time. They are the worst liars of the domesticated animal kingdom, from being ashamed or not about who pissed on the carpet to whether or not they want you petting them or like the way that you currently are, or if they just get an awful vibe from someone -- I can read them like a book, as someone with mild autism it's fantastic. People? People can fuck themselves. (present company excluded, I suppose, we are in one of the moderately less awful corners of the internet, and I'm guessing the ratio of neurotypicals to not here is somewhat skewed)
I've been around cats (my allergy only developed after a few years around them), and I know from experience they are... wired differently. They're better liars than dogs are, at least, when they want to be. I've met a few cats that obviously liked me, and a couple cats despise me, and just one that I know plotted. Whereas pretty much every dog I've ever met has at least tolerated me if not outright wanted to be my best friend.
seriously, do these two have a bet running on who can be more of a whiny, petulant child or something? I seem to remember some backlash against Rimu before for acting shitty (though I don't remember what for off the top of my head) that was quickly overshadowed and forgotten about because of the Tesseract debacle. It's like they're mad that their thunder got stolen.
Flesh Simulator gave off subtle vibes of being kind of a chud, but he made interesting videos; then he partnered with MDE and put longform content behind a paywall there. I am not giving money to MDE, so MDE can give it to Sam Hyde, so Sam Hyde can give it to neo-nazis, no matter how good the content is; and the fact he defends this at all (and still does, to my knowledge) was enough for me to say "nah let's just watch someone else"
I feel like, if you could read her mind in this exact moment the photo was taken, all you'd hear would be dial-up handshake noises. The one orange brain cell in the process of being transferred.
I've already made my peace with the idea that Trump will never see justice and will die a free man, but there are plenty of younger men in his administration who have many years ahead of them, and the crimes they've committed and will commit have consequences that reach far beyond 2028, whether or not they willingly leave office at that time. Sooner or later, someone answers for this horseshit, and I and many others are and will be harassing our representatives to make sure that happens -- me, personally, I'd really like to see Russell Vought and Stephen Miller spend their final years in a cell.
I just have to keep telling myself that in mid-1939, before the war but well after much repression, probably nobody in Germany thought the Nazis would ever be punished for what they were doing to Jewish people.
I also have a nice bottle of wine saved for Trump's death, but I was very tempted to open it if we got McConnell and Graham in the same week. Alas, it was not to be.
Met online on an app, thought we hit it off after our first date IRL, I was over at his place every chance I could to cuddle and watch movies together. After a few months they broke up with me via text on Christmas, saying they didn't actually mean any of the things they said and that they didn't feel right continuing.
That was my first and last "real" relationship, and I've largely given up on dating this past year or so. It's getting more dangerous to be openly gay in the US (I have no illusions about what happens after they run out of trans people and immigrants to scapegoat), and I've been learning more and more that I simply don't mesh well with others, so I suppose it's for the better.
yes, hence why I started with "I'm so happy my tax dollars are being used to pay for this". Even after the administration is put in prison for their crimes (however long that may take -- years, definitely, decades, possibly), there will remain countless others who got to enrich themselves off of our dime for utterly stupid shit like this; and will get away with it precisely because their actions are legal, even if they directly enable the regime to better perform illegal repression of free speech.
I'm so happy my tax dollars are being used to pay for this + every other horrible thing the administration is doing right now, which if I spent time listing, this paragraph turns into a thesis paper. Not healthcare or infrastructure or even just giving the military a needlessly inflated budget, no, let's just blow money on every stupid, cruel, and hateful thing we can; I'm sure these chickens will never come home to roost.
Yeah, fair enough.
