  • If it was useful and valuable they wouldn't need to beg people to use it for free

  • Unlikely but not impossible

  • I can't imagine a company founded on it's operating system, now deciding vibe coding that flagship product is a good idea... Especially vibe coding literally all of their software products... Dumb as shit.

Also everything they make is now a web browser shell with the app running inside which makes everything slow and memory hungry.

  • Intelligence is actually slightly negatively correlated with success my a lot of metrics (earnings, years of life, health) and the best predictors are general big 5 attributes like openness to experience, low neuroticism, high conscientiousness (hard working), and extraversion. Those characteristics are way better predictors of life success.

  • To get the same level of invasion of privacy you would need to have the cops drive over to your house in the 1990s and rifle through your address book, family photos, personal sex tapes (if you had those), listen to your mix tapes, read your mail, and go through all of your receipts for everything you bought. Basically everything you do in your day to day. All with one warrant...

  • Oop is right that young men are becoming dramatically more conservative than previous generations which is the core issue. And the same has happened to young women but in the opposite direction to the left.

Also when you say white women I'm assuming you're implying young white men vs young white women?

  • What's hilarious is this happens every. single. time.

    Railroads? Bubble.

We were building rail to literal nowhere... "If we build rail people will move to the train station and settle there! That'll pay for it!" What happened was we got a fuck ton of railroad stations serving literally nobody. It's like a lamp post in the middle of a national forest except waaay more expensive.

We did the same exact thing with telegraphy bubbles. Telephony bubbles, cars, radios, airplanes. Any new technology we don't know how to use it, so people piggyback on the hype and do dumb shit with it. Some of it works, most of it doesn't.

  • Awww thanks 🥰 I love him so much! He's also really smart too he's a really interesting cat.

  • Don't forget poor people as well. They're starting fires too, probably.

  • I worked at a 18+ cinema (served alcohol. Not that kind.) and 50 shades of gray came out (I'm dating myself hard here...)

Anyways we had this giant group of 40-60 year old women who came in and started having vibrator duels like they were lightsabers. Weirdest fucking thing I've ever seen and they almost got tresspassed for it.

  • Verbal warning, written warning, then start hiding their dirty dishes under their bed and use your own set until they get the message.

  • Cadmium poisoning affecting their brain from all their other £3 jewelry

  • Gooners cut

  • He's semi-feral and likes to have all 4 paws on the ground in case he needs to bolt (kitty PTSD), which means no cuddles :( but I can pick him up and plant him on my lap and bear hug him and he tolerates that (he tolerates it so much he kneads and purrs the entire time)

He's still an outdoor cat trapped indoors but I let him out under supervision to mow the lawn (and sometimes puke it up later...) but I don't want him outside on his own.

  • Oh MyAnonaMouse which is a cozy family friendly (they're deadly serious about that. You'll unironically get warnings or bans if you're not family friendly there) private tracker for books, PDFs, manuals, audiobooks, basically anything printed or reading related probably exists on there in some form.

  • Massive, massive vuln for a lot of utilities which use edge by default but use ad blockers to prevent malware ridden ads from playing on their machines.

  • I'm already in TL and it's my daily driver except for books and PDFs, which I use MAM for

  • He looks grumpy but he's very happy in this photo. He just got this tree and while he was scratching it I shoved his butt into the pouch and he did the whole "GET THAT THING OUTTA MY FACE" bird meme

His ear tips are missing because he was a stray for 2 years before I got him. He's also got gigantic paws that are constantly kneading including mid-air if I hold him like a baby.

  • You Should Know @lemmy.world

YSK refrigeration can be done using heat, which can then power district cooling systems.

TIL if your cat purrs quietly you can use over ear headphones as an amplifier by wearing them and pressing against their chest
