  • I‘m curious I read the petition and didn‘t see mention of „24h waiting“ anywhere could you tell me what you‘re referring to?

  • Petitions @lemmy.ca

Keep Android Open (Stop Google from limiting APK file usage)

  • Unfortunately not within my very limited capacity. Am severely chronically ill and can only manage a very limited daily time on screens.

  • This would never pass in a paper these days :(

  • Yeah exactly I think that‘s a plausible explanation for the RCT results. In any case it‘ll be interesting to see how that kind of research evolves.

  • Excellent Reads @sh.itjust.works

  • It‘s a shame because this is a really good article but the „olfactory training“ is a bit too credulously covered.

In the sense that it‘s quite scientifically controversial and most researchers think it isn‘t measuring a real increase in physiological smelling capacity, just that people who are trained to smell end up better at recognising smells for the test at the end. Not that the smell testing „healed“ their reduced sense of smell.

  • Absolute neoliberal Carney disgrace. The only reason he‘s popular is that the Conservative leaders are devil incarnates.

  • Many votes are on comments, meme posts, etc. I know some people mainly use the threadi for articles but that’s just one use case. Averaging one vote every ~10 seconds doesn’t seem odd to me, and if you do that you reach your quota in 2 hours 5 minutes per day. Which for someone who spends half their day on here is nothing.

  • There are some chronically ill people who are unable to work here who spend much of their day on this platform. They can easily exceed 750 votes. These also tend to be a big chunk of the people who post a lot and run communities and keep this place running and not feeling empty. Feels odd to punish it IMO.

Why doesn't openrailwaymap show the MIA people mover (Miami Airport)

  • You don’t think they try to organise too?

Of course they do. It’s very much a hard battle though because the upper class who gets rich off tourism is staunchly against it.

The graffiti and squirts happen because of a failure of the political system, not because affected people or whatever are too lazy or whatever to impact politics.

Same thing with climate activism. It’s not happening instead of political efforts.

  • We dunno. Depends when they get visa issues in check.

The problem with hosting a worldcup for stateless people is visa is a nightmare…

  • Genuinely the most blatantly corrupt thing I’ve ever seen FIFA do.

It’s over for me. The world cup was never 100% fair, but this is just straight up wild. If political pressure can be used to get FIFA to take away red cards. What’s to say it isn’t being used to tell FIFA to make referees favour a team.

There’s no point in watching a corrupt sport that is speedrunning towards fixed.

I will only be watching the CONIFA world cup from now on.

  • Happy cake day :)

Nice to see someone else with ME on threadi! Hope you‘re doing okay.
