I thought I was stuck there but I misspoke. I made an edit to the original post. Thanks for the insight tho! In sure that’ll be helpful once I actually get there.
I made an error in my original post. Please see the edit I made.
But I think I’m understanding a bit! I need to literally create a file named “/etc/radicale/config”. Then after that I need to copy/paste the configuration file/command line into said folder. Once I do that then I should be able to move onto authentication and then addresses.
I misspoke earlier. I wasn’t having issues with the addresses part, I didn’t even make it that far. I’m stuck on authentication. I updated the original post and added a pic for clarity.
Love it, thank you! I just dusted off my raspberry pi 4 and am experimenting with it rn. Will definitely reach out to you to trouble shoot if that’s coo.
Sheesh, that sounds like a Black Mirror episode. I know a majority of my info/data now is most likely compromised, but moving forward I can make a difference. Also, I can prep these tools for the young ones in my family who aren’t on the internet yet.
I definitely need some advice for self hosting! I literally have no idea what I’m doing. I have a raspberry pi and another user said that may be enough to get started.
Could you share some videos or links or blogs that explain how to get started?
That does slightly concern me that ddg is linked to Microsoft. If I’m going thru all this trouble to make my life more private then I believe I need to cut out the major companies as well.
Ya, the lack of resl time driving data is a bummer. But if that’s something I have to give up for a bit more privacy i will definitely use it for drives where I don’t mind being late. But if magic earth or something else had the same level of privacy with real time traffic I may choose that one.
I hear ya with the 10 years thing. But tbh, you could say that about any company that touts privacy.
I do love the self hosting thing. Another user mentioned that as well. Hetzner is a good back up. Do you have any links that help someone do it by themselves ?
Im enjoying the set up and tweaking of OSM. What I don’t like so far is the verbal directions. Sometimes the app will tell me to take a right/left when actually I should be going straight. But, to be fair, I haven’t played with it long enough to give it its fair shot.
I’ll look into libre. I was hoping for an app, but I can definitely make a browser work.
The photo app would be storage for photos. Someone else mentioned self hosting using AI. I imagine the process is similar for self hosting for something like nextxloud. Do you have a video or blog that would ELI5?
