Same. I dont know where I heard the word from, but it became my playful insult as a kid.

Got a very rude awakening when I called someones kid a silly dildo and had a red faced dad scream spitting in my little childhood face about it.

Protondb has a lot of old information on its thats not relevant anymore thanks to updated proton releases.

So there are a lot of games that suggest tweaks/tinkering that dont need it anymore... but people like me(random idiots that don't have IT/Sysadmin experience to know everything about linux) still might do, because the reviews from 18 months ago say its necessary, because there arent many reviews and the one from 18 months ago is still only like 5 places down from the top.

So polls like that should be taken with a heavy grain.

But now Steam is the last man standing between us and corporate greed.

Man how quickly people forget what things were like before the lawsuits forced valve to make steam more consumer friendly and regulatory abiding..

Yeah, there was some controversy a year or 3 ago with some game that supported linux, then cut support like.. a long time after release, and people managed to get refunds iirc.

I'm an idiot and even I can smell the bullshit coming off of this post.

Last I checked every cheat website I ever saw/got advertised/etc were selling windows executables with the swipe of a credit card.

This cry of "Linux is for cheaters!" is just the gaming equivalent of "Wont someone think of the children?!". a stupid slogan used by assholes to push their opinion/agenda in defiance of facts and reality.

I give exactly zero fucks about any of this until they show prices.

because most people got exposed to steam's launch on HL2's launch. Where they bought the physical game, came home, installed it off like 5 CDs.. then had to run steam to decrypt it and download more files because the fucking install was encrypted, and the goddamn fucking decryption took like 8 hours if you didnt have the worlds greatest computer.

Nope, I'm still totally not salty about not being able to play the game I fucking bought until the day after cause bullshit encryption fuckery, why would you ever think that.

I still have that goddamn box somewhere.. i need to dig it up and see what release retail HL2 is like compared to HL2 you'd downlaod today from steam..

I can understand and respect your position

but to offer the other side on silent charcters over voice acting, voice acting is expensive and time consuming. While if the dialog is just text, it can be much more involved, much more informative, can have sudden updates and changes without having incurr the cost of bringing back VAs and studio time, etc etc.

You can also have interesting mechanics like F1/2 had with how you can basically ask questions via keywords and discover new dialog that you never would have seen, or heard, otherwise.

also lets me slip into my character more easily when I dont have to hear the VA's interpretation of it... unless the VA is Jennifer Hale, cause hers is basically the voice I hear in my head for any strong female MC, lol

I can run fallout 4 at max everything and still get like 100+ in heavy fights(i dont remember the exact number, been a while since i last played, but definitely high enough for a butter experience)

anniversary should have just been an update to the base game. none of this anniversary edition/upgrade shit. games 10 fuckin years old, if someone still doesnt have the DLC just give it to them at this point. no ones paying full price for them anyway, and they regularly go on sale for 1-2 bucks.. which isnt gonna be bringing in a lot of money at this point.

and they could still have the paid mods like they do now, in a seperate package you can buy for 20 bucks.

i think having a juggalo president would be a step up from what we have now.

New Vegas got skewered on release due to bugs and stability, deservedly so.

It was unstable and buggy as fuck. It took a looong time for it to be remotely stable and not have to constantly use console to unfuck things.
