If you have this problem and can create files in the directory, where it is stored, create an empty file in the upmost folder of the game called ".nomedia" (with the period).
This will tell android to ignore this folder when searching for pictures and video.
Even easier solution for me, I installed the fossify gallery app and disabled my phones default one, and that lets me selectively whitelist and blacklist media directories
Even easier solution for me, I flashed GrapheneOS onto my device so I can limit the storage scope of my gallery app to my picture folder.

Depending on the image gallery you're using it might respect .noimage
