That, and also upbringing, like not necessarily even being aware of things being wrong or abusive. It's part of why it's important to talk about stuff like this, since it's easy to internalize and normalize things—especially as a first experience.
Is this a reference to that comic where a small dragon tries to... "take" one of these bollards? Because that comic gave me second-hand pain that I can still feel in my bones.
But I agree, it's important to establish boundaries and to enforce them, and that's something I sometimes struggle with, too, especially in the context of work (when they ask for overtime, extra shifts, extra work, that sort of stuff).
