Chinese leader Xi Jinping has expressed support for Russia, described Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin as an ally in building a new world order and confirmed their joint position on the war against Ukraine during his visit to Moscow on 8 May.
In a joint statement following talks, Xi Jinping and Putin stated that the war in Ukraine could only be resolved by removing its "root causes".
Such formulation clearly echoes key Russian propaganda messages used by the Kremlin to justify the launch of the full-scale war, including the threat of NATO expansion, discrimination against Russian-speaking people and the suppression of the Russian language, culture and media in Ukraine.
I want to note that the war has broad support among the Russian public, so while it might not be Ukraine they'll attack another one of their neighbors if only Putin is removed. See: Georgia, Chechnya.
Worth noting that it is illegal in Russia to criticize the war, so saying you don't support it is probably a good way to get yourself sent to the front lines in an infantry uniform. So, it's difficult to gauge how many people actually genuinely support it or not.
The root cause is putin, his nazi based wagner group and russia imperial expansion of colonies. Russia seems to be the only major power that is still expanding territories in modern times. Unless Trump decides to invade Greenland.
So far, China has also been a multi-faced player. Xi has patted Putin on the back and declared "unlimited partnership", but no Chinese weapons have been seen in Ukraine. Chinese soldiers have been observed there, but they seem to be really few for a country of that size - either mercenaries or people obtaining first hand experience under mercenary cover. Too few to matter as soldiers.
China has warm trade relations with Russia and has helped Russia source technology and endure sanctions. However, they haven't made a special and dedicated effort to insulate Russia from secondary sanctions, and several Chinese companies have applied sanctions on Russia as a result.
On other occasions, Chinese representatives have said nice words about Ukraine's territorial integrity. But deeds haven't followed.
In UN votes about Ukraine, China often abstains.
Officially, China doesn't sell drones to Russia or Ukraine. In reality, both Ukrainian and Russian drones are full of Chinese parts. Ukrainian government is asking every bigger player to have a plan B that works without China, but few really have one. What Russian government asks of their drone makers, I don't know.
Fuck China, can't believe people are falling for their propaganda these days when they directly support Putfuck and his war machine and then have the gall to talk about honor and respect. China is still an evil dictatorship and every day we should be reminded of that.
Anyone here understands geopolitics and the cornering of Russia by NATO (read: the US plus European vassals) or are you just talking out of vibes? Anyone here remembers the 2011 US coup on Ukraine and what it led to? It's a bit more complex than what the commenters here believe, lol.
Sure, sure, that's why the US offered Zelenskyy a ride which he turned down - they wanted him to be their puppet in Ukraine.
But you know, Yanukovich was a true representative of the Ukrainian people. That's why he fucked off back to Moscow first chance he got just like Assad, who truly speaks for the Syrian people... from fucking Moscow.
So I guess Viktor Yushchenko just ate bad arugula in 2004?
Just because a country does not side with russia, it is a US vassal? These US "vassal" are refusing to import chlorinated chicken from US. what kind of vassal refuse trade with their "master".
You left out russian invasion, coups, separatists, and terrorism inside Ukraine, Donbas.
Instead of filling your head with propaganda, take a look at the map and russia borders and coasts. Measure the length of the russia border. Now measure the length of the Nato border with russia before the Ukraine war. No way was russia cornered.
The most peaceful non-allied borders of russia with the least number of border troops are along NATO borders. which means russia feels safe with NATO at its borders.
Reasons like NATO and various other reasons are just excuses made for different sheeps/audience. NATO expanded even more due to russia invasion. Nato was not the reason unless it prevents russia from expanding territories. Ukraine said they won't apply to NATO, russia invaded anyway. It was not about NATO, russia is not afraid of getting invaded by NATO due to MAD, and also that is not the purpose of NATO. It is a defensive alliance.
Why expand territories? The main thing russia achieved so far is to get the warm water ports in crimea. IMO, Russia just wanted the warm water ports in Ukraine's Crimea and the main water supply to crimea, which is in Ukraine's Donbas, and to eventually link up to Tranistria It is just simple expansionism for more territories. Empire building. Putin already admitted it during the interview with Carlson.
It is not complicated. Complexity was created because different sheeps needed different reasons to support russia, reasons like NATO or biolabs for some, Nazis or LGBTQ and etc, for others. Exactly the same as the US, using made-up WMDs story to invade Iraq.
Russia has zero security issue since they have most nukes in the world. They also have most land to shelter from nuclear attack. They are already surrounded by nuclear powers like France, china, nkorea and etc. It is other countries that have genuine security issues with russia, its nukes, and imperial expansionism
So what is the standard rusbot argument for Nato expanding through willing submissions from new countries where Russias policy with their neighbors is beating them into submission where possible?
Don't forget, just like NATO, russia is also expanding with pen and paper through CSTO. Russia is doing both, expansion through CSTO and expansion of territories through bombs, guns, and tresspassing.
