It's a lie because more accurately it would be "housing-deprived". We have ample empty dwelling but billionaires like Musk have purposely held them away from people because they are more valuable as places to hold money than as places for people to live.

US denies proper healthcare because they want us to be dependant on the companies to provide us with that. If you lose your job, you lose access to healthcare. You are dependant on the corporate overlords for your subsistence and health

Countries with free housing for homeless people, and programs to help them quit doing drugs and get an income, have way less homeless people.
