South Australia considers requiring home developers to build larger parking garages
The South Australian government wants to increase the size of parking spaces in garages for new residential builds, but the opposition and industry groups say it will just make properties more expensive for buyers.

"I think currently the regulation allows for developers to build new properties with garages that are frankly just too narrow," Premier Peter Malinauskas told ABC Radio Adelaide.
"You can't even fit a Hilux or a four-wheel drive in them and that just doesn't make sense given that's where such a significant proportion of the new sale car market in Australia comes from."
That is the fucking point. Holy shot these people have lost the plot. If your car is 2x the size of a normal car then that should mean you suffer 2x the pain. Not everybody else. Next thing they will require garages to each have enough space for a private jet....

Everyone else does suffer the pain, though, because these people park on the street and effectively remove the left lane for several hundred metres at all times.
Or we could just make these child killers illegal in metropolitan areas.

Jeez, wasn't expecting a premier to say that crap. Not even a Liberal prem, although it's not as if Labor inspires much faith either.
In some fields Malinauskus is more right wing than his Liberal party predecessor. Urban development is one of the big ones.
This is the premier who says "urban sprawl is not a dirty word", totally killed the right to protest in South Australia and is dedicated to commercialising the parklands. But he did undo the insane privatisation of the rail system so he's not totally blind to a good thing.
What a knob. Hopefully SA can push themselves to a better premier.
